BMC Leading Ladder

NewsImage.aspxRound 1 here : Nov 12th- 27th

Round 2 here : 28th Jan to 12th Feb

The BMC Leading Ladder is back for 2011/12! Taking part in this fun competition is an excellent way to improve your climbing and a great way to get fit – and stay fit – over the winter months.

What is it?
The BMC Leading Ladder is a fun lead climbing competition that starts 1 October 2011 and runs at 31 UK walls, with 12 rounds right through until the end of March. Each round of the BMC Leading Ladder runs for a 16 day period. That means that you can travel around the country and take part in leading competitions right throughout the winter – and all at your own pace.
Format
Three Leading Ladder rounds will be run at any one time giving plenty of opportunities to compete at different venues right throughout the winter.

Categories
Each round will have 10 routes ranging from F5+ to F8a, with the following three categories – A, B and C.
• Category A is for climbers who lead indoor routes in the grade range F5+ to 6b.
• Category B is for climbers who lead indoor routes in the grade range F6b+ to 7a.
• Category C is for climbers who lead indoor routes in the grade range F7b to 8a.

You choose which category you want to compete in and then your points will be entered into that category in the scoring system.

Each of the three categories will then be split into male and female, and under 16’s and 16’s and over. Ages will be those on 31st December 2011, and climbers must be no younger than 11 years old.

Grades

Each competition shall consist of 10 routes graded F5+, F6A, F6A+, F6b, F6b+, F6c, F7a, F7b, F7c and F8a.

How will it work?
The BMC Leading Ladder competition routes are clearly marked and anyone using the wall may climb them. But if you want to take part in the BMC Leading Ladder competition, and have your score recorded, then you need to buy a scorecard for £1 from reception. Don’t try any of the routes before buying a scorecard – that’s cheating!

Fright Night Climbing at Harrogate Climbing Centre!

HCC Haloween

Head on down for some Halloween fun at Harrogate Climbing Centre on Monday the 31st of October. We will be holding a fancy dress competition with prizes for the best and most original costumes. There will be apple-bobbing competitions, a scary circuit for you all to try, and be entered into a prize draw as well as some Fear of Falling workshops to help you conquer your fears!

Everything is free to enter, except the Fear workshops, which are £20 per person (including wall entry). They are booking up fast so call today to book a space.

The Halloween Fright Night coincides with our regular Monday night Social Climbers, so it will be a great night to have fun with local climbers. So help us make this a great social event and come along dressed as scarily (or as funnily) as you can!

See you on Fright Night!
