What’s Happening at HCC?

There’s lots of things happening at Harrogate Climbing Centre over the next few weeks!

Starting on the 28th of January, the BMC Leading Ladder will be running again at HCC, come along and test your mettle on routes set by the current British Lead Climbing Champion, Dave Barrans. There are categories for all levels, which makes the BMC Leading Ladder a fun event for all!

As well as testing yourself and having fun on the ropes, round five of Boulder Yorkshire will kick off on the 2nd of February. Boulder Yorkshire is the county’s friendliest bouldering competition, with a great selection of prizes not only for the winners, but the best progress and most dedication throughout the competition.

Are you and the climber in your life looking for something a bit different to do this Valentine’s Day? Not wanting to break the bank? We have teamed up with Indulge to offer a climb and dine offer for you! If you are competent climber then a climb and a meal at Indulge cost just £30 per couple. If you are new to climbing, and would like an instructed session before your meal, then the cost is £50 per couple. Fancy an adventurous Valentine’s, come to HCC!

February the 16th sees a FREE TALK from legend Mark Radtke, a man who is no stranger to adventurous climbing and first ascents. A quick flick through any of the local gritstone guidebooks will reveal just how influential Mark has been in the UK climbing scene, and now he has created a history of his adventures, A Canvass of Rock. Mark will be giving a talk on Thursday the 16th of February, and signing copies of his book after the talk. He will be heading into the centre for a climb afterwards if you fancy joining him, come and climb with a master!

If all of the above wasn’t enough, Craig Watson’s Active Mind Coaching will be back at HCC running another introductory talk, as well as performance and fear workshops, on the 17th (talk) and 18th (workshops) of February. Active Mind Coaching addresses the mental aspects of climbing performance, and the barriers we create which hamper our overall performance. Only 5% of climbers address the mental aspect of climbing training, will you be one of them?
