For all of our outdoor courses we will provide all the necessary climbing equipment. If you have your own climbing shoes, harness or other personal kit you are welcome to use them, but we will provide these if needed. Please make sure you let your instructor know before you leave the centre in the morning if you need any personal climbing equipment.
However, the following is a list of kit that we recommend you bring with you on all outdoor courses. You will need to bring the following despite what the weather may appear to be when you leave the house!
OUTDOOR COURSE KIT LIST
- Personal climbing equipment – i.e. harness, shoes and chalk bag (if you do not have these then they can be provided by HCC)
- Packed Lunch. It is a very active day so you will want to keep hydrated and well fed. If it is cold, you may wish to bring a flask with hot food or a hot drink.
- Waterproof jacket (and trousers if you have them)
- Fleece or jumper- essential! It can get surprisingly cold at the crag, even in summer
- Sensible footwear suitable for uneven terrain on approach to crag (not necessarily boots)
- Sun cream/Sunglasses
- Insect repellent
- Hat and Gloves
- Any specific medication such as; hay fever tablets and asthma inhalers
- Rucksack to put it all in (And possibly some group kit!!)
- Camera!
- Some spending money for the cafe to buy a coffee, hot chocolate or snacks (not always available)
This is not an exhaustive list- if there is anything else you can think of, bring it along! It is your responsibility to bring the above equipment as required. However the kitchen sink is not required! Any questions, ask a member of staff.
